Algonquin 3, Marlborough 0: T-hawks win tourney opener

The seedings and the records indicated a two-hour, knockdown, dragout match. The reality, however, was much different. No. 8 seed Algonquin needed less than 60 minutes to defeat No. 9 Marlborough yesterday in the opening round of the Division I Central boys volleyball tournament.
Milford 3, Marlborough 0: Sweeping gesture

The Milford boys volleyball team added another notch to its belt by once again sweeping an opponent in convincing fashion. Last night, the Scarlet Hawks defeated a spirited Marlborough squad 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-12), improving to 17-0 on the spring.

Alex Wasik had 10 kills and two blocks as Milford (13-0, 9-0 MW) kept its unbeaten season alive with a 3-0 Mid-Wach League win yesterday over Fitchburg 25-12, 25-5, 25-16. Anthony Lombardo had 10 kills and a block while Kane Wittorff added eight kills and five blocks for the Scarlet Hawks.

Senior setter Billy Shimkus recorded five kills, 12 assists, and 13 service points (four aces), as Lincoln-Sudbury (8-1) blanked Framingham (3-8) 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-23) in a boys volleyball non-league match.
