Chatham claims Section II, Class CC title

STILLWATER — Chatham won the Section II, Class CC track and field championships Saturday at Stillwater with 136 points. Maple Hill placed second with 106, Rensselaer-Doane Stuart placed fourth with 49 and Taconic Hills placed sixth with 47.

America’s hometown will pay tribute to fallen American heroes with a parade and several wreath-laying ceremonies Monday. The Memorial Day parade steps off in Shirley Square (Court and North streets) at 9:30 a.m. and travels to five different downtown war memorials.

Brooke Leonard, Zeeland East softball tops West Ottawa to win home tournament

The Zeeland East softball team won its home invitational on Saturday, knocking off West Ottawa in the championship game 13-2. Brooke Leonard got the win allowing just four hits and striking out three. The Chix were lead offensively by Hannah Lane who had two doubles and a single. Kelly Raterink had a home run and Lydia Smallegan had a double.
