Prayers during Catholic mass to get Vatican’s translation

CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma has directed the implementation of the Vatican City-sanctioned upgrade of prayers recited during the mass in the next four months. In a circular dated May 23, 2012, the gradual implementation of the new translation will start next Sunday, June 3, in all masses in the archdiocese.
Restore Fest 2012 battles poverty, aids with recovery

An estimated 10,000 people swarmed Landreth Park on Saturday for Restore Fest 2012, organizers said. The daylong event was put on by a Springfield-based relief organization, Convoy of Hope, that has been helping with Joplin’s recovery. But according to Jeff Nene, spokesman for the group, the heavy lifting is being mostly done by Joplin residents.
