clash_music: ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - DOK

clash_music ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - DOK - http://www.clashmusic.com/feature... August 4 from Clash Music - Music News... - Comment - Like New grime talent DOK supplies this week’s Clash DJ mix, providing an esoteric take on upbeat urban for your listening pleasure. Though having been active in the hastily-evolving grime scene for a number of years, DOK has chosen to keep a low profile, dipping briefly into the limelight with several Terror Danjah collaborations. Danjah was also present on DOK’s recent ‘West Coast’ EP – a innovative skewed funk take on a range of grime styles and ghetto-tech. DOK’s mix is a fine demonstration of his fresh approach to, well, everything, as well as his love of twisting electronica into something far dirtier than it should be. Glitchy UKG, various punishing bass tracks, 2-step twists, heady hip hop and plenty of grime bastardisations are present and correct, featuring the likes of Royal T, Wookie, Preditah, various DOK cuts and remixes, and several appearances from none other than Terror Danjah. And listen out for a choppy blast of Everything but the Girl, before things take a satisfyingly... - clash_music
clash_music: ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - Jon Convex

clash_music ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - Jon Convex - http://www.clashmusic.com/feature... July 14 from Clash Music - Music News... - Comment - Like Damon Kirkham, one half of Instra:mental, lays down a meaty, metallic groove-beast of a mix for the Clash DJ podcast, under his new solo alias, Jon Convex. The dark, experimental nature of Instra:mental’s sound is carried on through the Convex project, with an even larger array of sounds added into the equation, as demonstrated in his recent ‘Convexations’ EP, which delves into fragmented garage, futuristic acid house and dark club moods, to name but a few. Slithers of all three EP tracks feature in Kirkham’s Clash mix, alongside a glitchy tech number from Dutch dub progressive Martyn (taken from his new album on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint) to open things up, several cuts from the continually-impressive and genre-defying Addison Groove, a clubby number from Joy O, an Instra:mental track and plenty of twisted techno, trip house and UK urban splices and bastardisations, all wisely woven together by Kirkham. The ‘Convexations’ EP is out now, on Martyn’s 3024 label. - You must be a... - clash_music

clash_music: Nosaj Thing Live

clash_music Nosaj Thing Live - http://www.clashmusic.com/live-re... October 22, 2010 from Clash Music - Music News... - Comment - Like Mid-week partying in an East London warehouse set-up? I’m in, particularly when it’s the debut live AV show by superb American glitch-hop artist Nosaj Thing. Hosted by two innovative London arts/events crews, Earnest Endeavours and Deadly Rhythm, the night also featured psych-electronica act Free the Robots, who kicked things off with a set of gleefully mashed-up 8-bit and electro-jazz bastardisations. Very nice indeed. On to Nosaj Thing, aka Jason Chung, who immediately reacted to the crowd and his surroundings by rocking a particularly full-on sound, with heavier beats and beefier lines than usual. It went down a treat, of course. Tonight’s set demonstrated that Nosaj’s live tech skills are clearly on a par with his production expertise, as live versions of established tracks like ‘IOIO’ and the glitchy tones of ‘1685 Bach’ were spliced with all manner of samples, reworked and generally shifted in every direction by Chung, whilst still retaining an element of his floaty, Boards of... - clash_music
