ALBANY — The state Senate passed a bill Tuesday to close a loophole in Leandra’s Law that allowed convicted drunken drivers to avoid installing Breathalyzers in their cars. Under the new measure, convicted drivers who don’t have an ignition interlock device installed must instead wear an alcohol-detection ankle bracelet.
