A law imposing
draconian new fines on those participating in "unsanctioned" protests is a worrying sign about the likely course of Putin's third term and virtually guarantees political conflict and radicalization. Nothing about this new law is redeemable, is it a shockingly regressive pseudo-Soviet piece of legislation that is more cause for alarm than virtually any other one I can recall.
