Prep boys golf roundup: Holland High edges Holland Christian on tiebreaker

Ethan Drooger’s match-low, 2-over-par 38 at Clearbrook helped the Holland boys golf team top  rival Holland Christian on a fifth-man tiebreaker Monday. Both teams shot 168, but Holland earned the edge on Travis Sale’s 47.

Nick Carlson, Hamilton freshman, claims OK Green medalist

Seven teams entered the OK Green Conference Championships on Tuesday at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University, and the gusting winds on the back nine had an adverse effect on some. Those winds didn’t stop Hamilton freshman Nick Carlson, whose 36-hole score of 78 locked up the top medalist spot on individual side.

Nick Carlson and Zach Lepird went 1-2 to lead the Hamilton boys golf team to an OK Green Conference Jamboree win Tuesday. Carlson, a freshman, fired a 1-under-par 35 at Pigeon Creek, while Lepird finished second at even-par. In other action, West Ottawa dropped an OK Red match to Jenison.

The Hamilton boys golf team shot a 161 at Diamond Springs on Thursday to win the OK Green Jamboree. Nick Carlson and Zach Lepird each shot 36s to tie for medalist honors.

Byron Center had the best team score, a 164, but Zeeland East (169), Hamilton (172) and Holland Christian (173) gave Byron Center a run for its money at the OK Green Jamboree at Crestview Golf Course in Zeeland.

The West Ottawa boys golf team shot a 169 to beat Hudsonville (183) and lose to Rockford (155) at Braeside Golf Course. The Panthers are 2-4 on the OK Red and 2-5 overall.
